Recap Nintendo Direct 04.09.2019

Hello everyone!

Yesterday there has been an awesome Nintendo Direct with a lot of information for all of us to process! My idea is that I'll create a little write up so you guys have all the information at a glance. So, there was a lot of amazing stuff but here comes the list:

  • Banjo & Kazooie for Smash Bros. Ultimate is out! Sakurai played it in a stream that happened directly after the direct. You can watch it here.
  • The 4th fighter for Smash Bros. Ultimate was announced. Terry Bogard, a well known fighter from the NeoGeo game Fatal Fury was sneak peaked! In addition to that it was announced that more fighters are in development and there will be more than the initially planned 5 fighters added to the game!
  • Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch on October, 15.
  • For Nintendo Switch Online members they are adding SNES games, starting today with 20 games including Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, F-ZERO and more!
  • Tetris® 99 is getting a 2.0 update today with a new 2 Player shared JoyCon mode, an expert mode, that is unlocked once you win in classic mode and new cosmetics like fields and player icons.
  • New information about Pokemon Sword and Shield was also presented: There will be huge options to style your character the way you want it, clothes, hair, and much more to make your character look exactly like you! Also, the Pokemon Camp was announced as part of the new game. In this Camp you can play with your Pokemon, cook different kinds of curry (over 100 recipes in your CurryDex) or meet with other players to visit and play with their Pokemon.

Besides these announcement for the multiplayer games there were also some huge Single Player and smaller games announced / updated:
  • Animal Crossing New Horizons was shown and the release date was presented: March 20, 2020
  • Divinity: Original Sin 2 was released yesteday
  • Little Town Here, the new game from Gamefreak Inc. also got a release date: Oct. 16. 2019 and will cost $24.99
  • Rogue Company, a new game from Hi-Rez Studios was shown
  • and many many more games like Doom64, Farming Simulator 20, Mario and Sonic at the Olympic games, Just Dance 2020, NBA 2k20, Dauntless and Assassins Creed where shown.
